New Jersey is known for many things like reality TV, Atlantic City, beaches, great italian food and so much more. It’s no wonder why so many people want to move to New Jersey. 

Whether you already live in New Jersey or are planning to move here, there are many different counties that offer great neighborhoods and school districts. So, where are the best places to live in New Jersey? 

1. Somerset

Somerset County is ranked at the top of the list for best places to live, because of the variety of things to do. Residents can enjoy an abundance of parks and outdoor facilities, which makes it an active community. 

Somerset is best for younger adults and middle-aged people, but their school system isn’t ranked as high as others in the state. However, there are many activities, restaurants, stores, and exercise places, making it a good place for young adults to find employment.  

2. Morris

Morris County is ranked second because of its safety and great school system. Morris is a top pick for families who are looking for prestigious education systems for their young children. 

Morris ranks first in child and family economics, and similarly ranks well with unemployment rates, having a lower average than the state ranking as a whole. 

3. Hunterdon

Hunterdon County is popular for families as well, with great school systems and centrally located. The home of wealthier families in New Jersey, Hunterdon is a safe and affluent neighborhood. 

Locals say there are plenty of things to do, with restaurants and outdoor activities, there is a wealth of stores – which ads to the economy. 4. Monmouth

The public schools in Monmouth are some of the top rated in the state, making the education system competitive. High school graduation rates are high, and it ranks fifth highest in education, and is among the healthiest counties in the state. Monmouth is also within 45 minutes drive to New York City, making it desirable for many people. 

5. Mercer 

Mercer County is great for families and people who like a small-town feel. With an abundance of parks and outdoor open space, people in Mercer are generally active and health-conscious. 

With Princeton University close-by, the county also has a great education system and many options for higher education. Mercer is family-friendly and good for people who enjoy the quieter side of life. 

6. Burlington

Burlington County is an ideal place to live for people of all ages. While there isn’t a ton of nightlife, there is tons of day-time activities. With close proximity to Philadelphia and New York City, Burlington is an ideal suburb for people who enjoy trips to the city but prefer a quieter suburban lifestyle.

7. Sussex 

Sussex county is one of the most well-known places for outdoor activities, and is one of the reasons New Jersey earned the nickname “The Garden State”. With lush parks and opportunities for fishing, hiking and sightseeing, Sussex County is a great option for people of all ages who enjoy nature and exercise. 

Sussex boasts apple orchards and mountains to ski, but also has an abundance of restaurants and shopping centers. Sussex is a good option for people who enjoy a quieter lifestyle full of adventure and fresh air.
